Abu Dhabi Police announced that the speed
limit has temporarily dropped from 160km/h to 120km/h
Dubai UAE : The
speed limit on the UAE’s fastest motorway was temporarily changed on Wednesday,
and is expected to continue for the next six months.
Abu Dhabi Police announced that the speed limit has been
reduced from 160km/h to 120km/h on the Shaikh Khalifa
Bin Zayed Highway, which was previously known as the Al Mafraq - Al Ghwaifat Highway. The new speed limit
applies to sections of the road affected by roadworks.
The speed limit was the highest in the country, and would
catch motorists driving at 161km/h.
Abu Dhabi Police explained that
the change in the speed limit was made due to road works that started on June
27, 2018, which are being carried out on the left lane of the Shaikh Khalifa
Bin Zayed Highway.
The
road works are expected to continue until December. The
highway links the capital city of Abu Dhabi to the Al Dhafra Region and Saudi
Arabia.
The highway will be closed on
both directions from Hameem bridge to Al Dab’iyah bridge, and will continue for six months. Radar
speed limit during the construction period is 120 Km/h,” said
Abu Dhabi Police.
